Shamans

Class:  Shaman
Arch-type:  Priest
Abbreviation:  SHA
Specialty:  The Tribal Healer
Special Abilities:  Pet or Debuff
Primary Stats:  Stamina & Wisdom
Description:  Similar to a tribal witch doctor, Shamans are found within more primitive races. They draw their power from the unseen spirits that reside throughout Norrath. But never underestimate a Shaman, their ability to help or harm someone is tremendous.

Strengths:
  • Only healer class that gets a pet
  • SoW and Invisibility
  • Ability to Resurrect
  • Strong character buffs
  • Good debuff spells
  • DoT spells
  • Bear form
Weaknesses:
  • Constantly asked for SoW, Rez, or Buffs while in town
  • Pet gets out matched easily by mobs close to the shamans level
  • Weakest direct damage spells of all the healer classes
  • Only healer class without an AC buff
Creation Tips:   Shamans are a great class to play and are a lot different than the other healer classes. Shamans are able to buff Strength, Stamina, Agility, and Dexterity. These can make a big difference, especially to the Damage Dealers (DD's) in a group. Shamans don't get an AC buff (which helps the tank only, primarily) but the extra damage from their buffs more than compensates for it. Shamans also get debuff spells that take away from the stats of their enemies.
The popular buff, of course, is Spirit of the Wolf (SoW) which is the bane to your existence after level 12. Shamans also have the best level 51 class mastery: Avatar. Avatar is the big daddy of all buffs, buffing STR/STA/AGI/DEX/HP. Also, unlike the 51 abilities of all the other classes in the game, the duration is 30 minutes (not 5 mins which is what most are) and a recast of 30 mins. You must choose who you want to buff wisely but in a good group that is going to stick around, it will be the tank every time. Avatar can make even a caster into someone who can take a few hits from an enemy.

You need to pay attention to Stamina, Wisdom, and Charisma. Stamina and Wisdom are your primary stats and will give you your hit points (STA) and power. Charisma increases your heal so pay close attention to it. Any other stat that may be important you can just buff yourself to increase (i.e. STR for melee damage or DEX for bigger nukes).
